Development of SMARTSIM, a cost minimized method for clearance of materials.
The development of SMARTSIM is a collaboration between consultants at Studsvik AB and Jonatan Jiselmark at Greenfield Strategies AB.
There are different methods for clearance of materials used around the world today. They are effective in some areas and ineffective in other. SMARTSIM combines three well established methods in order to minimize ineffective clearance of large quantities of materials. The methods combined are:
- the US MARSSIM methods,
- the Bayesian statistics methods and
- operational clearance of materials.
Two examples of projects that SMARTSIM have been used for are the clearance project for the old hospital Karolinska in Stockholm, Sweden, and the decommissioning project of the nuclear reactor Ågesta in Stockholm, Sweden. Both projects performed during the late 2010th and early 2020th.
